Don't aggregate anything off-chain (this implies that we need to have an extensive hierarchy that can absorb even the smallest bit of data and aggregate it appropriately on behalf of the user).
The categories proposed by the GHG Protocol's Scope 3 Calculation guideline is another possible angle from which we can build up an activity hierarchy (i.e. from the life-cycle angle instead of from the industry angle like IPCC and ISIC do).
Note: not all calculators/standards currently use the same unit of measure.
Challenge: it's impossible to accurately quantify the carbon footprint of every activity - there are too many variables. Sacrificing good for perfect?
