Welcome

Survey and blog post next steps:

  • Blog is probably ready to go – Swetha will review and edit as needed
  • Survey is loaded into SurveyMonkey and is close to ready to go
  • Main discussion today was around promotions:
    • We can ask Community Architects to send this to the main list (this sends to everyone on any list)
    • We can ask Community Architects to add a link in a banner on the wiki
    • We can ask Working Group leads, Special Interest Group leads and project maintainers to mention this in upcoming calls
  • In terms of timing, we want to close this out before HGF so we have data there to share – so this would be near the end of February

HGF discussion:

  • Open items include, identifying activities we want to do at the diversity happy hour and throughout the rest of the event and how do we want to incentivize and recognize people for taking actions
  • Discussion on speed networking or mentoring activity and how this worked at the previous Global Forum event – we will reach out to TSC and maintainers to see who would want to be mentors and Celia to create a list for potential mentors
  • What other activities could we ask people to do while at HGF to advance DCI efforts?  Example of the pledge system at Grace Hopper and the allied badges at Intel.
  • What swag item do we want to have to give away there?  For example, the All Are Welcome graphic on a pin.  Emily to follow up with Ali to get graphic and get a print run and find a space for a small booth to place the pins and information about asks and/or pledges.

Debrief of virtual meetings

  • Wasn't as effective as we would have liked.  We discussed how to mix live meetings with virtual meetings.
  • Could we add more of a forcing function to the virtual meetings – such as asking people to check in on a virtual meeting
  • Dan to take an action about putting more structure around virtual meetings and what scheduling we should have for in person DCI calls
