Key Discussions & Decisions:
1. Community Outreach and Engagement
The European Chapter (We) discussed additional outreach to LFDT Chapters that have not yet confirmed their participation.
We highlighted the need to engage communities that may have reduced activity and find ways to increase their involvement by using different communication channels.
2. Challenges and Changes in LFDT
Alfonso Govela emphasised that LFDT has evolved, with some groups becoming less active.
Interest in generic discussions has declined, and the community should focus on more practical and specific learning topics.
There is a strong need to help members build tangible projects rather than just discussing theoretical aspects.
3. Collaboration with Other Linux Foundation Groups
We discussed inviting other Linux Foundation groups, such as the Trust Over IP Member, which should be included in discussions to promote cross-community collaboration.
4. LFDT Meetups as Side-Events at Blockchain Conferences
We discussed organising LFDT meetups as side-events at blockchain conferences where the LFDT staff will be attending to align actions and improve attendance.
5. Active Projects and Initiatives
A list of active projects needs to be compiled and maintained to better track engagement and progress.
Action Items (by the next meeting):
Reach out to ALL active and less active LFDT Chapters in Europe to encourage participation and ensure a response.
Explore collaboration opportunities with other Linux Foundation groups in Europe.
Explore opportunities for LFDT meetups as side events for major blockchain conferences.
Establish a Confluence page to track progress, keep documentation, and share resources.
Set up a meeting calendar in Google Calendar & Confluence with a planned agenda beforehand.
Create a mailing list that all LFDT Chapter members can join while staying anonymous, ensuring they receive updates on future events outside of Discord.
Ensure all necessary preparations are completed before the LFDT European Chapter launch on February 26, 2025.
