Frank Yiannas, the FDA’s deputy commissioner for food policy and response. Former vice president for food safety at Walmart and director of safety and health at Walt Disney World Company.
Announced during American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAT) Conference
While the private sector is already testing blockchain tools, the FDA would oversee the data, and would serve as a regulator to ensure interoperability. The government would define which standards are supported and the data attributes that have to be traced so that it makes it easy for private solutions to scale and not have to create their own standards.
