1.Do you have any questions about the Giving Chain project and what the project GOAL is?

  • Currently, the world currently is facing a huge humanitarian crisis, and help is needed almost everywhere. How will the Giving Chain prioritize calls of help from the recipients; or will that be dependent on the donor?
  • Will the Giving Chain be the central organization managing all donations and their distribution or are tie-ups with local NGOs and Relief organizations on the table? If yes, how would the Giving Chain verify their credibility?
  • Once the project expands, how would the Giving Chain ensure that people from disaster-struck areas and areas under occupation are included as recipients?


2.Do you have a preference for part-time (20 hours a week from June to November). Or Full time  (40 hours from June to August)

  • I would want to work part-time 20 hours a week 


3.Describe what you feel the project must overcome

  • Firstly, the user experience of the interface must be made seamless and intuitive to use so that services provided are accessible to all irrespective of their technological savviness. Hence gamification of operations becomes extremely important.
  • When a crisis strikes an area, a lot of people aren't even aware of how they could play a part in mitigating the situation. I believe apathy stems from the feeling of powerlessness and if the common man is educated about how doing as little as donating can help someone in times of need then we could see a surge in donations. Hence the Giving Chain must also focus on raising awareness about issues plaguing the world and what simple steps one can take to make the world better. 
  • In the current stages of the project, the user must have access to the internet but in areas under occupation, the internet connection is often unstable and in control of a central authority. The Giving Chain must make sure that operations don't cease in times of internet shutdowns.
  • Carrying out proper delivery of donations can be a daunting task especially when the donor and the recipient locations are far apart and hence the Giving Chain would require volunteers or tie-ups with local organizations to smoothen the process.
  • Cross-border operations might be an issue due to regulations in certain areas. Since it is necessary for cross-border help to provide resources when an entire area is in danger, there has to be a way figured out to work around the regulations.


4. What does success look like for this project?

  • Deploying the project cross-country and setting up nodes in areas where help is most needed.
  • Helping people who most need it and impacting the lives of millions who do not have or are denied the resources one needs to sustain a good life.
  • Tying up with local organizations and making them a part of our network to optimize the reach and have more transparency in the donation supply chains.

article on open-source projects and mentorship programmes.
- I am highly passionate about bringing tangible change with new and upcoming
technologies. I want to build solutions for a better world, wherein there is more
accountability and transparency within systems and innovation fosters
prosperity - for all. Since DLTs promise a disruption in the current workings of
the web with exciting applications like decentralisation of governance,
decentralised finance, self-sovereign identity, decentralisation of social
networks etc; I chose to explore the web 3 space. I want to further learn more
about DLTs and expand my knowledge while working on hands-on projects
and hence the Hyperledger Mentorship Programme gauged my interest.
- I have been exploring the web 3 space for the past five-six months now. I have
a strong grasp of Ethereum concepts and the Solidity language. I have
previously worked on a personal project ~ Reform the Norm, a news-sharing
application on the Ethereum blockchain to decentralize and incentivize civic
engagement.
I am also the Technical Lead for a startup that provides a one-stop solution for
carbon trade on the Celo blockchain. My responsibilities currently include
developing smart contracts using Solidity and implementing test scripts using
the Truffle framework.
- Since I haven’t yet had much opportunity to collaborate on open-source
projects and learn from other developers around the world; with the
Hyperledger Mentorship Programme, I intend to firstly collaborate on exciting
open-source projects and secondly get proper guidance from experts that would
help me accelerate my journey as a blockchain developer. Post the programme,
I hope to have found a community of peers who are as passionate as me about
bringing about change fueled by technology and to have learned a lot from my
mentors.
