The Blockchain Research Institute (BRI) and MCI Canada (MCI) are excited to open award nominations for the third annual Enterprise Blockchain Awards (EBAs). The 2021 Enterprise Blockchain Awards will recognize the exceptional leaders, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and service providers driving global enterprise blockchain transformation. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to submit a nomination to honor those that have made a measurable difference within their ecosystems and across industries.

Two years ago the DCI WG was born out of the motivation to create an ecosystem that enables diversity in all its forms and eliminates any barriers individuals may face to contributing openly and authentically to Hyperledgers shared vision. That mission has proven to be more challenging, yet more vital to the success of our Global community today than ever before. The work that that we do simultaneously dismantles unjust systems while laying a more solid foundation on which we can all build.12/9

Luca Boldrin, Stephane Mouy & Roland Faure for an excellent roundup of the latest evolution of eIDAS, the European regulation concerning the unification of national identities in the EuroZone.

Specifically authentication related matters in a Digital Identity Wallet which are new features in eIDAS.2
Thorny issues between national, private and individual control of wallets, of issuers, the question of trusted certifiers etc were discussed.

A Path Towards Interoperability: CCI Released a Paper on Different Flavors of Verifiable Credentials

Kaliya "Identity Woman" Young presents her new paper on VC Flavors.

The first part of the paper elaborates on the following three data formats of VCs by walking through a credential lifecycle:

  • JSON-LD family with LD Signatures or with BBS+ Signatures that enable Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKP or ZKPs)
  • JSON with JSON Web Signatures, precisely in the form of a JSON Web Token (JWT)
  • ZKP with Camenisch-Lysyanskaya Signatures (ZKP-CL)

Identity Working Group is a victim of its own success. The projects that it helped launch, Indy, Aries and others have been wildly successful. The setting up of ToIP inside the Linux Foundation is also a notable development. Most of these projects focus on Identity as a stand-alone idea and focus on natural persons and their agents. IDWG's aim is to discuss and work-on digital identity in the context of Enterprises, both as bridges to legacy systems and as a foundational concept in dlts, especially those that are incubated inside Hyperledger. Identity is also a key interoperability lever. This year, IDWG launched a deep examination into the privacy & anonymity layer in COVID proximity apps in April, before the explosion of interest in COVID related apps.  Other presentations included a yearly "State of SSI" and reviews of events like the IIW. Next year, IDWG intends to continue technical presentations on Identity in HL dlts.  The IDWG paper will be rebooted and published by the end of 2021.

Mark Wagner will be able to help you best in this. I did attend a meeting of PSWG last Tuesday, my own take is next. Mark noted that his job demands are conflicting with his leadership of PSWG. As more projects are maturing, there is focus on performance and scale and methods to achieve it. There was strong attendance from TWGChina and the members have a Performance and Scale  subgroup, mostly focused on Fabric. They also noted a language barrier and the leadership could fall on Yang Cheng from CAICT (a Chinese Research Institute)- The PSWG paper on metrics, although published a couple of years earlier is very influential. The paper has been used to get a good understanding of performance metrics, which is one of the first concepts to grasp before starting on any project, monitoring.
