2024-2H Supply Chain & Trade Finance SIG Report (Draft)
Supply Chain & Trade Finance SIG - 2H 2024 Report
Prepared by Tom Klein
Overall Health
The SIG has a lot of interest in Jeff Pribich’s idea for a Carbon Accounting Digital Twin. This will be a major focus for 2025. The SIG also published three blog entries on topics important in Supply Chain & Trade Finance: IOT, MLETR and Traceability. In addition, our weekly newsletter published by ex-Cochair, Andrea Frosinini, continues to go out to over 4k LinkedIn profiles.
Issues and Challenges
Getting broadened support from the community was difficult.
We saw declining attendence for webinars over the year. Was also difficult to find quality topics and speakers.
Tom Klein and Alicia Noel are resigning as co-chairs in Jan 2025 after 4.5 years and 3 years respectively. Jeff gets to set the direction.
Overall Activity in the last 6 months
Jeff Pribich has developed an in-depth view of how to implement a Carbon Accounting Digital Twin. There doesn’t seem to be anything similar in existence though there seems to be a need for more real-time accounting. The Carbon Accounting SIG is also providing input and support.
Andrea Frosinini, a past co-chair of the SIG, continues to publish a weekly newsletter of links relevant to Supply Chain & Trade Finance. Members can add their own links into the document before published.
Three blog entries were published as part of our 2024 series:
Planned Work Products
Continued refinement of the Carbon Accounting Digital Twin.
Jeff, as the Chair, to lead a new discusion on what should be the 2025 focus
Participant Diversity
Geographic diversity is good but could be better.
Current industry memeber participation could be better.
