Contribute-a-thon

Updates on progress made on contribute-a-thon for BAF and Fabric documentation translation

BAF: Working on identifying the contribution opportunities and will then define pathways for each.  Initial discussions have focused on how to recognize contributors and there is interest in issuing digital badges and we are looking into how to do that – if this is effective it could be a useful way to recognize contributions in other parts of the community.

Fabric docs: Helped team identify contribution pathways for translators and they've updated their Ways to Contribute guide with the information.  We've done a slow roll out of this information to community members to try out the pathway and the process for onboarding new languages and currently have 3 new language projects going: Malayalam, Portuguese and Japanese – these languages would make the docs available to over 350 million more people. Will try to onboard a couple more languages before doing a bigger promotion around this.

Content

The New Stack

Jessica Rampen
  • Looking for more technical contributed articles. Would love to work with the Hyperledger Fabric maintainers on a piece about managing private data within Fabric, given the upcoming release 2.2 and Fabric Private Chaincode (FPC)
  • The New Stack covers cloud architectures, components of the software development lifecycle, and operations tools and culture. They have generally not covered blockchain, so we'd have to dive into the infrastructure and operations side of things more.
  • Any other super technical topics w other projects would also be welcome.
