3 - To Start a LFDT India Student Society

A LF Decentralized Trust (LFDT) India Student Society provides opportunities to meet and learn from the community as well as engagement with professionals working in open source in permissioned blockchain locally.

Step 1: Recruit minimum ten student members and 2 faculty advisors

  • A minimum of ten students are needed to create a LFDT India student society chapter (at your institution).

  • Students must have an active status at your institute/university.

  • A student society must have two faculty advisors (Faculty Ambassador) to serve as a liaison between LFDT India and your institute/university, and two students (Student Ambassador) to carry out the organization of the student society chapter in your institute/university.

Step 2: Complete the student society application.

Before you start this step, make sure you have:                    

  • Secured the required minimum ten student memberships.

  • Determined two faculty advisor's role (Faculty Ambassador).

  • Determined two student roles (Student Ambassador).

  • Established a name “LFDT India Student Society - <Institution Name> Chapter”.

  • Created a chapter email for faculty advisors to receive messages in one location (any service provider will work) [preferred].

  • Obtained a letter from your institute/university that recognizes your LFDT India Student Society chapter as an official organization.

  • The letter should have a reference number and point of contact name and contact information (faculty or administrator), not a student.

Step 3: Review process

  • Submit your interest/intent to the LFDT India Student Society along with the Letter from your Institution, and , over email to LFDT.India.SS@gmail.com with CC to LFDT.India@gmail.com

  • The expected time frame for the decision would be one to two weeks.

  • Status updates can be requested by writing to LFDT.India.SS@gmail.com with CC to LFDT.India@gmail.com or attending the LFDT India Chapter weekly calls.
