Discussion:

  1. LF 's new "foundation" might be a better fit for us:

I wanted to share news about plans to form Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust -- this will be a home for the open development of a broad range of ledger, identity, security, interoperability, scale, implementation, and related technologies.

This will encompass the growing portfolio of Hyperledger projects and host new open source software, communities, standards, and specifications that are critical to the macro shift toward decentralized systems of distributed trust.

All Hyperledger projects and labs will continue to be supported by Linux Foundation staff and we will continue to offer the same services and tools to the people working on those projects and labs.  There will be some changes to the names and URLs of some of our tools and we will communicate more about that so you have the details.

Since this news is relevant for people involved with Hyperledger projects, I wanted to make sure to share this on the channels for Hyperledger's projects. If you have any questions about this, let us know and Hyperledger staff members will be happy to join one of your project calls to discuss this and answer questions.

More details about the plans for Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust is at: https://share.hsforms.com/1-Er-mwdeT6yGZKtIPu8NJQ4tvhy (Will send over this week)

Roles

CLP

Now that we have completed the acceptance process for for the paid mentee role, I am sending out this email to offer the option of accepting unpaid volunteer mentees for your mentorships.

Key things to note:

  • This is optional only. We want to offer this opportunity because I have heard from some of you that you have enthusiastic mentee applicants who are willing to learn and contribute on a voluntary basis.
  • Please consider your bandwidth and availability to guide multiple mentees. I recommend that you accept no more than 5 volunteer mentees.
  • Please consider the likelihood that volunteer mentees may be casual contributors.
  • There won't be any difference on LFX Mentorship whether a mentee is in paid or unpaid role.
  • Once accepted on LFX Mentorship, these mentees will no longer be eligible to be accepted into another LFX mentorship in the future.
  • Volunteer mentees will be supervised by mentors only. So there won't be any formal evaluation of these mentees nor will there be any stipend approval tied to their deliverables.
  • Volunteer mentees will receive acceptance notification and graduation notification (if they meet criteria established by you) and can be eligible to showcase their learnings and contributions via Hypereldger channels.
  • Please make sure that you have spoken to these mentees about the unpaid opportunity and confirmed that they're still interested.

If you would like to accept additional mentees on the voluntary basis, please let me know the following by Thurs, June 13th

  • Your mentorship project name/LFX Mentorship link
  • Volunteer mentee's names and emails
